Post-CT Celebration

Saturday, February 25th, 2006

Before CNY, MR Lim (our form tutor) proposed that we take the scholars out for dinner one night, as a 331 reunion dinner.

However, the plan was not put to effect until now, when we decided to meet at Orchard for dinner. It was decided upon that we dine at Seoul Garden.

Only read between the ~~~~ if you want to know what happened…

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I must say, today provided a few good laughs…
Qing Wei, the "gang leader", underwent several dares to fulfill his status, like eating chilli, wasabi, and ice cream drenched in a mixture of hot sauces…
I took my hat off to him (not literally), and when was sweet enough to get me a drink, I surprised him by thanking him as "Qing Wei kor kor"… and he replied by saying "guai di di"… There is a story behind it;
Whenever Qing Wei does anyone a favour, he would make them say "Thank you Qing Wei kor kor", like Kian Tat and Chee Keong would do, but I would never do it… So whenever he did me a favour, I would just say thanks, and when he asked me "Thank you who?", I would not reply however he wanted me to…
But that night, I was feeling a bit *nice*, and was really truly grateful, cuz I didn’t expect him to do it for me… lolz
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Not only was it a very belated CNY dinner for 331, it was also the celebration of the end of common tests, as well as Mr Lim’s birthday.

We got a cake for him, and sang a very loud birthday song in a very crowded restaurant, and made him very happy.

Earlier today, in the morning, I had a rehearsal for the Passion Play, and it went very successfully, a few changes here and there due to space constraints. The play was actually so beautiful, I was quite moved… Brandon Young and Ian Low joined in, and I was quite surprised… Timothy Lee invited me to his birthday, and I was quite touched…

Before cat, I fell asleep cuz I slept really, really late last night… And Sam found me drooling on the table… Lolz…

Well, Common Tests are over… Everyone’s rejoicing, and I have to get everything organized… With all my files and homework and projects…

Rubgy match ended with an uproar on Friday (literally). SJI beat RI 14-10, and supporters were elated (not all from SJI), screaming and shouting their lungs out… Pity I couldn’t watch, since I was in the NCC Land leadership course, run by none other than my mother. Can’t say that wasn’t fun…

I shall leave it here for now… Can’t think of anything interesting to post right now…  So I shall add more pics…

TTFN,
Gab.

Finally Over…

Common test are over (*sigh of relief*), and now its just back to work, play, commitments, and CAMPS!!!

Today at IMT (Individual Marksman Training), I barely scraped a pass with 11 out of 20, which is already better than more than half of the rest =P Stupid lenses, so fogged up and blur, I had to shoot blindly half the time, but I still passed… Imagine if I could see!

Anyway, I’m quite looking forward to the camps coming up (yes, even NCC Company Camp), cuz for once, I actually think I might be able to fit in? (*Crosses fingers*)

I shan’t bombinate you with more insipid details of my ever-so-boring life…

How boring is my blog? Please tell me =P
Gab.

PS I might change the style a bit from now on… For those who still read it, that is =P (Maybe take a leaf from the pages of Ben Teo’s blog)

Legion
I must say, I’m quite surprised and definitely quite happy that more Sec 1’s from my Orientation Camp group joined Legion. Now my only hope is that they will stay on… Ian Low is confirmed staying, but people like Timothy Lee, Timothy Oen, Brandon Young, Aloysius Soh… I’m not sure if they see Legion as what it really is… I’ll just hope that they hang on for the moment, till they see what Legion is truly about…

Geog Field Trip
It was more fun than I anticipated, especially cuz I was surrounded by all my good friends… Thanks Wilson for helping us take all the photos (of us, not the plants..) Lolz… I learnt so much, definitely more than if I were to read about it in a textbook…

NCC Training
It wasn’t AS bad as I anticipated, but PT was sorta unexpected, so I decided to pass… Due to my persistent cough that, contrary to popular belief, IS STILL BOTHERING ME!!! So I helped out in Bernard Low’s entrepreneurship thingy… Saw Lionel (202) failing his test =P, Timothy (210) was there too… Took pics of ppl doing funny stuff (NCC Air in an especially weird pose too), Ryan (201) posing for the camera, another one of him lying on a table (hmmm…) but he deleted it… I took one with Lionel too, but my face was cut off… Heck, the camera isn’t mine, doesn’t even belong to someone whom I know… Lolz… We had PT after that, imagine what I would have to go through if I had participated… We were sorted into "syndicates" which we would stay in for the rest of the year… And I would have definitely brought everyone down, but I cheered them on (silently, due to my irritating cough)… Haven’t actually met my syndicate, but hopefully, they’ll like me… (FAT hope, quite literally)…

Passion Play
I am involved in a play, one including the stations of the cross… And I am Pilate, a very formidable and convincing one, I might add =P… Let’s hope it all goes well, and that we all break a leg (literally? Hope not…)

Catechism Retreat
Didn’t imagine it to be so FUN. Even with all my friends around me, I was wondering what they would make me do… Turns out, I was the popular for a presenter, but never got down to it, since I helped in the preparation for the presentation instead of just sitting back… Therefore, I was exempted from the actual presenting of arguments, in the debate against the girls, which they obviously won, since they had four excellent debaters, two experienced and two not as much, but all very good, nonetheless… The trust walk was spectacularly fun as well, with Athena making me stumble into things, and I having revenge making her trip several times, but neither of us fell… Thank God =P

Covenant Ritual
Happened right after the retreat, during mass. Although neither parents nor sponsor was there, I am officially accepted by the community as a candidate preparing for confirmation. How relieved I am…

Canine matters
Tess, our new huskie, has wormed her way into our history of dogs. As early as memory serves, Whiskey (who died before I was born) and Fatty were quite a pair. Next came Fatty and Candy, whom I spent my childhood days with. Then came Candy and Cookie, the pair whom I will remember forever. And now, Cookie and Tess, the pair which I will spend the next few years making memories, and cherishing them for the future. Who knows what or whom will come next?

Others
I seem to be in debt of a lot of reading up, so I shall probably do that now… I have a dinner later, and coincidentally, today is the last day of the CNY.
So, Happy New Year everyone!

With nine subjects and TDP Chemistry, one could never begin to imagine such a workload was possible… and yet so fun! All of it makes me wonder if I am truly 331 material… Maybe, maybe not; but I still have a good grip on myself…

For now.

It’s the weekend, but I don’t seem to get anything done… All my homework is done, but the things I set out to do (like try to understand geography and social studies) remains to be pursued.

Can’t wait for the camps to begin… Legion Camp, Camp La Salle, NCC Company Camp (maybe not)…

*Sigh* The world is spinning out of control…

And I’m getting dizzy.

30/1 Party at Marcus’ House
Thoroughly enjoyable, fun to be with friends once again. Marc Lim asked me how come I wasn’t bored and I replied,"My fun is in BEING with friends, not exactly participating in the same activities, or doing something out of my comfort zone just to include myself.
I was pretty tired from lack of sleep the previous night, so I fell alseep quite comfortably on the sofa stretched out. Matthew, Marcus’ brother, kept on staring at me, so I figured he thought I was weird. Once, I sensed his eyes drilling holes into me, so I looked back and said hello. That definitely classified me as weird.
The three Charlie’s Devils had lots of fun together (as usual), guest starring Matthew in our bitching sessions… So much fun!
I swear, end of year, it’s going to be at my place =P

31/1  Last-minute gallivanting
I received an sms from Edwin Low at 10.30am, inviting me to Orchard Cineleisure to hang out at 12.30pm. I saw it at 11.30am, when I woke up. Eventually, I got moving, at around 12.10pm, and reached there just in time.
We wasted the day away, and since half of our number (six) had to go early, Jeremy Wong, Eugene and I went to catch a movie, Cheaper by the Dozen 2.
Not before we went on a wild goose chase from Orchard to Novena (to Ian Low’s house, where Edwin had a checkup from a friend doctor) to Toa Payoh.
Interesting day, but I couldn’t finish my homework by that night, the last CNY public holiday… Thankfully, I didn’t get into trouble =P

1/2  TDP Chemistry Practical
Fractional distillation, known to all, practied by few.
Harder than it looks to set up, Mr Raymond Wong bought five types of beer for us to extract the ethanol out. The actual experiment took thrice as long as set-up, especially since set-up had to be perfectly done. We got Heineken, John Paul got Tiger, Leslie got Carlsberg, Marcus got Anchor, and Mr Wong took Asali home =P.
Once it was all done, though we were unsuccessful at separating any ethanol due to the faulty inconstant heat supply, permission was granted NOT to waste the beer =P Any guesses what that meant? I think it’s clear enough, as was the ethanol that I TRIED to sip, but failed miserably. It hardly got past my lip =P lolz
After that, there was a mass for all Catholic societies. We arrived pretty late, and since I was pretty high (Marcus pretty drunk), we didn’t go for communion, but hoped the rest of the boys had a meaningful mass.

3/2  Old SJI visit
That morning (and the previous one), I was called upon to pray for the health of our students and teachers, as well as for the good results of whatever tests. Being a good prayer leader, I endeavoured to say as best a prayer as possible.
After school, I was excused (for the fifth consecutive week) as a PSL to bring Sec 110 grp 1 around the old SJI (currently the National Art Museum). Had fun seeing all my Sec 1 friends again…
After that, the Charlie’s Devils met up at the cafe for a bitching/homework session (as we did the previous day in the annex), with Moses Yeo.

That’s pretty much this week in a flash… School is so much fun! (Workload’s getting heavier though =P)…

Stay healthy,
Stay smart,
Stay strong =),
Gab.
