First Few Weeks Of School

KINDRED SPIRITS

I had to come a lont way in overcoming my stage fright so that I could perform that one song… And it all paid off…

That week was pure madness… Full of rehearsals, SYF practises and practical exams…

Anyway, the Kindred Spirits concert was mad, I was super nervous, but we all treated the Sec 1 show as a half rehearsal, and not a real performance… Yet.

Vaudeville dancers were good, but they weren’t very sociable… Dunno how to mix, so I tried with one or two guys but they went to join the rest of their gang… So I went back into the holding room…

The real one at night was a roaring success, and I was proud to be a part of it… All the screaming girls and the shouting guys, and the wild atmosphere made it so much bigger than it was expected to be… Everyone was motivated to give it their best shot… And it worked =P

Anyway, my performance was short (THANK GOD), and I could hear quite a lot of shouting, but not very distinctly, even my name…

So we were dismissed, and I went home with Mum, Tush and Ning, after a short debrief and some SJI cheers… Haha, that was all too fun, an experience I will never forget…

SYFOC06

Well, I went back to sleep as usual after tuition, and got up at two plus, so I was late for the bus from school, and didn’t know whether to go anymore or not… So after much delay and deliberation, I decided to take a taxi there myself, since there was no one to drop me or any transport… So I walked out and took a taxi from the turquoise taxi stand outside the Indonesian Embassy, and when I told him National Stadium, he was doubtful and hesitant to take me, cuz he knew there were massive traffic jams and cordons around the National Stadium, but he would "try" to get me as close as possible, so I agreed,

He told me his son was there, and he couldn’t get anywhere near the National Stadium due to the cordoning off of Nicole Highway and roads around the NAtional Stadium, so I was a bit nervous, cuz maybe I shouldn’t have even tried, but when we went there, the roads were unblocked and quite smooth, since the SYFOC06 had already begun. (In case you’re wondering, that stands for the Singapre Youth Festival 2006) =P

Anyway, security wasn’t that strict, cuz the NPCC cadets didn’t dare to stop me from going in, luckily I was in uniform with PSL shirt… So I got in, and I went up the stairs, and emerged in the middle of the Singapore Kaleidoscope, in which SJI was participating. They donned red shirts, khaki shorts, gloves, reversible red and white hats, and colourful green and yellow aprons that they could flip with ease. They also had pom poms on standby =) … So that was a lot of fun to watch, even though I didn’t dare to join in cuz of my plain clothes, though I helped to clean up once it was all over, and I saw Joel Yee though he wasn’t dancing… Apparently he was pulled out for Taming Game, but he came anyway… As was I, since I had Kindred Spirits and Milk Run the next day as official excuses for not participating… Muahahaha… So I had fun there, and it finished quite late also, and it was madness getting out of the Stadium with how many thousand people and students who were there… Like a massive stampede of students and a never ending stream of chartered buses could be seen within the vicinity of the National Stadium, as it was being used the last time before NDP06, after which it would be closed for renovation. We all look forward to a bigger and better stadium in future…

So I had fun there, with all the sec ones and sec twos, and some sec threes too…  Saw Jessica there, and some of the display bands were so good, it was quite disturbing to compare them with ours… Especially after the marching I saw yesterday at their parade… *SIGH* But the ceremony was indeed quite fun to watch, and fun to just be there with my school… The last time I was there with my school was in P5 for National Education programme, in which we all watched the NDP02, which was quite memorable… But getting out of that madness was the most fun =P

MILK Run

I had a nice sleep before I got up the next day for 7am mass, cuz I had to go for the MILK Run, where we set up a stall selling Ice Mocha, and it was quite a big success, as were the Ice Cold Drink Stall, the Ice Ball stall, and the Ice Cream Roti Prata stall… Notice a common feature?

How about ICE… Haha =P For such a hot day (and thank God it was), everyone was dying for something cold, and many patronized our stalls, so we did quite well… Anyway, that day was a long and fun one, cuz with my class, nothing can be boring =P

Competition was not that stiff, we patronized each other’s stalls, and helped each other out in terms of advertisment too… In the end, we all had leftover stuffs, like coffee and prata… But most importantly, there was leftover ICE CREAM… Too bad it was so frozen that it could not be scooped out…

YEAH RIGHT! As if that would stop me… I figured that since all the sides were already melted, so it was one block of ice cream, I just poured it out on to a plate and started licking and biting it… Muahahaha =P  I ate so much until I was so full, I needed the walk home… Hahaha =P

So sad I got  goody bag, but no MILK Run T-shirt…. *Haiz* We made quite a lot of money, but most of all, we made our oun fun, and that was the best… We used minimal capital, and I had free flow of mocha the whole day…. That should be enough for a lifetime… *snort* Yeah right…

THE TAMING GAME

The Taming Game was very unpredicatble, being a Shakespearian play, everyone expected it to be some boring old play which nobody could understand… However, what we all didn’t know was that it was a total revamping of The Taming of the Shrew, and not just a mere adaptation… It was extremely hilarious, the actors really brought out the characters, and the two schools worked hard to make it a success, and indeed it was…

Involved in the play were the SJI Drama, Guitar Ensemble, Tamil Language Society (for Indian Dance), and boys from the Theatre Arts Exposure Programme (for backstage crew). Also, the KC Drama, Choir, Malay Cultural Society, and Dance Club.

Suchy a big production could only mean that it had to be flawless and extremely entertaining. If not, the $25 for each ticket would be an utter waste. I am proud to say that it wasn’t. However, the programme was $2! That was quite a ripoff, but I bought one from poor Nigel Seng, who was begging people (rather than asking them) to buy programmes from him.

I enjoyed myself thoroughly, and many others did as well… I brought lollipops and shared them during the intermission, when JKor broke Marcus’ nose, and Marcus threw his lollipop away! Bloody hell… give him lolli just so he can waste it =(

Anyway, I had fun (for the fourth time this post), with my friends, laughing away at friends acting in the play and their witty comments…

That’s all for now, but I am nowhere near catching up on where I am now… Still a month behind I think… Haha =P

Oh well, slow and steady… I’ve already won Belmond =P

LLTC ‘A’ 06

Wednesday, July 26th, 2006

I changed font, hope you can read it… Haha =P  I know I can’t… Anyway, LLTC was great fun, and I won’t describe it in much detail so as not to spoil the fun of those who will be going…

I made so many new friends, and that was really fun, cuz people who I didn’t know before are now good friends, like Bryan Lim and Marcus Sim. The joint camp with SPS really worked out, cuz they were quite nice, and we were quite crazy, and that just made us click…

Okay, let’s start with the first day, on which we were supposed to walk to a feeder primary school. We were given St. Anthony’s Primary School, which nobody in our group was from. Anyway, that was quite tiring, especially since we spent like three hours walking only to get ourselves lost a little way off from SAPS… So we had to take bus there =P

On the journey, my group really bonded, and we got to know each other, so that was fun… I went around making friends, and tried to get to know all of them.

Before I continue, this is my group;

ROBLESS
Dickson
Brian
Danial
Jonathan
Thaddeus
Cass
Bryan
OMG I forgot this guy’s name
Sean

Yeah, so that’s pretty much it… I kept on switching name tags with other people, so my name was never the same throughout the camp for any one day… HAHA =P

Anyway, we had the affirmations for the fourth camp that June holidays, so I was quite tired of all of writing affirmations, especially for Jonathan Chen, since we was with me for all four camps… Haha, damn sway right =P

Another memorable thing is the party we TRIED to have on the last night of camp, between Robless and McNally, but it didn’t work out, cuz all the food that our two groups bought was koped away by others who didn’t really care… And Kenneth Quek invited all of his friends over, but there was only enough food for the two groups… In the end, I think about half the camp was at the party… -_-"

The SPS guys were quite afraid of showers, since SJI is renowned for having no cubicles in the shower room… Anyway, when it was shower time, most of them didn’t want to bathe and if they did, it was with their underwear or shorts on… Damn funny to hear them whine lah =P
Sorry, no offence, but its just a shower!

Alex Tham was our group facil, and we had people like Chee Keong (SPS guy), Zain, and some others to help out when Alex was busy or not around… So we had a good time with all of them too, and they were all very nice =P

Jia Hao actually knows me, but I didn’t realize that, cuz we didn’t even talk in Camp La Salle… So on the last night, when he was serving dinner, I was talking to someone beside him, when he said to that guy," This guy dao me for the past four days of camp"

I was just shocked, and I didn’t know what to say… So I was like," I’m sorry, I didn’t even know you recognized me…" So I wrote him an affirmation, as well as other people, especially 208…. Nearly all of them wrote to me, so I couldn’t not return the favour….

LLTC was great and memorable, but I still think CLS was much more fun… Just like PSLTC, LLTC redefined FUN for me, in a whole new way… I really enjoyed it, and I hope to help facilitate in LLTC  ‘B’ end of this year… Maybe I should start on my application… Haha =P

Hope yall had fun, and really want to see/hear yall again… *SIGH*

Legion Chalet

Saturday, July 15th, 2006

Guess what! I woke up at like 11am, meaning I was too late to join Legion at GOL home… I also needed to finish packing for the chalet, and meet them at Novena for mass or something… Crap man, I was so late, at least I caught them at Novena, and went on from there… We had lunch at Toa Payoh MacDonald’s  (the one with the GV cinema) and from there, we took a straight bus to the chalet, though it took us like an hour to get there… We finally reached, and began the laborious journey to the chalet with all our heavy bags and all…

When we finally got there, Mr Ang had his usual Chalet prep-talk and we had the ’sorting ceremony’ to group them for the chalet, and I learnt most of the Sec Ones names through that… Affirmations were also set up before Icebreakers (mass Whacko) and I must say, we did a good job with them, although they were pretty neglected with all the organising we had to do =P…

We wrote down questions of our faith that night, anything we wanted to know, so that there could be an open forum to discuss it, and that was quite successful, cuz we got quite a lot of questions… We also had a nice closing prayer, during which I hope nobody dozed off (apart from myself being tempted to =P )

The first day was pretty much settling in, nothing intensive, but we had to implement the bedroom quota system (although it didn’t work out at all =(  but we tried) and some other administration for the next day…  I had fun mixing with the sec ones, who happened to like my toy dog (as usual), and started abusing it the moment they saw it… Hell man, my poor dog felt so violated… Tried staying up the whole night, but without mocha, I didn’t want to risk facing the next day like a zombie, so I didn’t really stay up the WHOLE night, managed to squeeze in a few hours, when I wasn’t writing affirmations for everyone =P …

Melvin had a talk with the sec twos that night, I attended it, and it wasn’t as bad as I expected, although he could have made a little more eye contact with them… IMHO, I HATE it when seniors talk to the floor when "scolding" you… Makes me so annoyed, you want to say something, say it to my face… Don’t look down on me either =) (or maybe I’m just rebellious)…

There was a screening of Scary Movie 4 that night, and I watched that stupid but hilarious movie, cramped with all the others sqeezing in around me, Ben Teo lying on my back, since I was already in a very good spot from the beginning, but there were people coming in to see where everyone had gone, so all of us were staring at one small laptop screen… That was quite fun, at least it was cozy throughout the movie, and we could all laugh together =P

The second day was a problem. That was all to describe it. We started with morning office (a big mistake), and then proceeded to games before lunch… Some conflict there between Joseph and Julian (and me somewhere in the sideline) erupted, and we finished the last game to make P1001737everyone happy, just something to kill the tension, and to let them have pure fun (with very sticky number stickers that they utilised to the maximum)… After making them find stickers around the house, they could then wage war against others (eventually a free-for-all), and Ben Teo was our
sacrificial numbered cow, with black and white all over him, from neck to knees and even shoes (though we left his legs and head out) and the stickers all came out in one piece, like tight fitting clothes… That was fun, and many people took pictures of him (instantaneous celebrity)… Should post them somewhere…

We had a session in the afternoon, but I’m not sure what it was, can’t really remember… *SIGH* Either that, or there was nothing going on at all, but I’m pretty sure there was something… Then we went for mass at Holy Trinity in Tampines at 6pm, in the small chapel that they use for daily mass, with some weird guy who drags the end of his sentence, like "alleluiaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa…"

Oh yeah, we also had a deep sharing that night, where we were supposed to get really deep into our lives, and instead of just superficial things we share, we try to really know each others’ background, but it didn’t really work out for my group, so I was kinda disappointed… But I don’t think I let anyone down, other than the Sec Fours by ending it early, so… Sorry to Marcus, who doesn’t know about this, but his group rocked, they shared for hours…

The next day, we had the answering of Faith Questions, and that was very successful too, we managed to answer quite a lot of questions, and that was quite interesting, though some poor sleep-deprived people were too tired to stay awake… But there were certain provocative questions that Mr Ang had to step in to resolve and conclude before we moved on…

Jeremy
Do not read this part;
 {Jeremy didn’t wear underwear at first, happily proclaiming it to the whole world, and was planning to go to the beach shirtless, but I don’t know what happened in Room 1 when his friends found out, and I didn’t look, but after that, he was wearing underwear and a shirt… Thank God for that =P}

We also went to the beach in the afternoon, and that was fun, cuz I love deep water, but not those that I can’t stand in… Anyway, the waves generated by boats racing past parallel to the shore were quite fun to ride, and whenever boats passed, everyone would flock to Headwhere I was to cling on to me (since they could’t stand) and enjoy the wave, while I like going through it, they went over… I like water =P  Anyway, that was fun, cuz I was the first one in (as usual) and Glen took a picture of my head, like the lochness monster… Not sure who they buried this year, but there were quite a lot of people who came (or were dragged) into the water again, for the second time…

After everyone had washed up, we had a session conducted by Mr Ang, although we were supposed to go bowling at Tampines Mall… However, with this delay, we arrived there late, when it was almost closing already… So we had gobbled dinner down quickly, and then we went back to the chalet, cuz there was nothing else to do (after like an hour of discussion and debate over what to do, some just got so fed up), but everything was calmed and resolved in the end, although it was anticlimatic and disappointing =( …

In the night, with my mocha, while all others were knocked out, or gone
out to watch soccer, I was busy writing affirmations, as usual with all
other nights, when Jeremy Ng comes up to me and says he can’t fry an
egg with butter, but I thought it was definitely possible, since butter
is just solid oil, but he burnt the pan (TWICE) and had to throw the
two eggs away… Oh well, that was for me not supervising him (and not
knowing how to cook, dammit)…

So the next morning was basically a final reflection, and mass clean-up before we left for a surprise bowling trip, since we missed it the previous night, and I had fun playing pool, and they had fun bowling, and others had fun playing LAN, and we all had fun together… So it wasn’t that bad after all… And I had to go home to prepare for my next camp, which was next Monday (LLTC)…

I was so tired after lunch, that I took a cab home with Joshua, and slept to the next morning… Although this chalet was a tiny bit of a disappointment, I wouldn’t say it was a failure, cuz I got to know the Sec 1’s and they got to know me, and it was all fun =P

I luv Legion,
<GABZ>

P.S. MY MOCHA ROX =P !!!

June Stayover Part II

Saturday, July 15th, 2006

OMG… It’s been so fricking long, that I’ve forgotten everything that happened… Well, here goes =P

When I woke up for tuition, couldn’t really concentrate with like 3 hours of sleep, but managed to get through it without falling asleep… Anyway, after that, can’t really remember what we did, but I had dental in the afternoon, and Legion Chalet planning after that. So what happened was we split up, I went for dental then my planning, while they went to play LAN or something like that…

Anyway, we progressed quite a lot at the planning meeting, but key people like Joseph weren’t there, or had anything going for chalet, so we just made the schedule without him… That was pretty fun, but they could have made the venue a bit more central (like say Orchard?)

I came back from Toa Payoh, and Belmond and the rest came back a while after, and then I can’t remember what we did again… I think we had a BBQ, and I helped to do everything while they were playing stupid "logic" (if logic really has degrded itself that far) games like 1 o’ clock or meh meh jumping over the wall, or some stupid thing like that… Then I was still helping out while they were pigging out, over the dinner that I helped to cook =P  Hope no one was poisoned…

Anyway, we had to get up early the next morning for mass, so we didn’t really have an eventful night, though we had to take turns to use the bathroom to wash up… Anyway, I went to join the choir this time, since they needed my voice to balance the guys and girls or whatever reason… Hope they had fun laughing at me, thank God I wasn’t cantoring that week…

After that, we went out for breakfast, and they went dunno where, so I went back to church for choir prac and some youth meeting after that… Quite interesting, finally the youth in our parish are doing something  =P…

So I went back home, and found Belmond and gang already there, but I told them not to go home until I was done, so that my Mom wouldn’t be all niao, but at least they were doing homework =P  I tried joining them, but I was too braindead to do physics, which they were all doing, so I just helped whoever with their matrices… Maths is so fun  =)

Dinner was over X-MEN II, and it was quite interesting until Pap changed the channel to football, so I went up with Lennon, Kian Tat, Qing Wei, and Kenny to the playroom where we were fooling around, mostly in the dark, cuz there are no light sources if you close the door and turn off the lights… So its pretty fun and spooky, but since we were all in it, it turned quite crazy  =P… Ended up having VERY VERY weird nightmares (which I can’t really remember now)…

We ended up sleeping there, cuz we were all quite tired but smelly, cuz no one bathed… But we swam the next morning, or afternoon, for the umpteenth time, and Kian Tat was the odd one out, being anti-social and not joining us… Even after negotiating that we would play bible-opoly (in which they both gave up cuz I was winning, -again-) and then swim with Belmond… Lennon went to jump in first, so I dragged the remaining two down, but Kian Tat refused to swim, so I left that stubborn idiot playing stupid X-Box, and pushed Qing Wei in…  We played UNO H2O again, I still remember some stupid diving game where we would have to pick up all the cards from the pool looking for one card… Pfft.

We had to go to Bugis to watch CARS with my sisters and Kids Camp ppl (including Nick and Alex, MArk P’s damn cute kids), but we were extremely late, cuz stupid MaxiCab didn’t turn up, and wasted time waiting for it, but in the end, got two cabs outside the Indo Embassy… Thank God for that lah… We made it there at the starting of the movie, and had quite a good time, the movie was enjoyable, although Disney movies are going down the drain…

Belmond and all went home from there, Tush and I went for Tennis with Kor, and I must say, that was quite fun (Mum tagged along, with a book) cuz I was quite good for once… Anyway, the next day I had Legion Chalet and I hadn’t packed yet… Haha, damn funny =P

But that’s a story for another time…
<GABZ>
