OBS

Wow… I would have never expected it to be so fun, and I’m betting neither did anyone else… The phenomenon lies in the change of mindset throughout the camp… From the first day to the last day, you can actually see the change in everyone around you, and especially the change in yourself; your time spent changes from suffering to enjoyment. You learn how to appreciate, rather than to critisize. You know you are dying to go home, but you want to stay for as long as you can…

All this in a five-day adventure camp; Bound For Discovery, Changed For Life.

Who knew that one camp could change so much in you? But its true, and I’ve experienced it, so I’m a believer now =)  Everything was paradise when we came back home… From the toilet to the bed, but most importantly, the FOOD… Muahaha =P  Absence makes the heart grow fonder…

One thing I cannot live without, is seriously the friends… Put me in a torture camp with friends, and I will survive. Put me alone in OBS without friends, and I will kill myself. OBS epitomized what friends are for, and I really cherished the time I spent there with them, in all the moments of hardship, burdened labour, tiredness, filth, and all other discomfort and displeasure.

We survived; through serving, through striving, without yielding.

Don’t blame me for anything that I didn’t do right, cuz I tried my best with the time that I had, and I don’t have much regret this term… But everthing has to change (higher, that is) and what goes down must go up… Oops, I got it wrong, but screw physics, I hate that subject…

English        70    Damn… I wanted an A1 =(
Chinese       60   Wow… Never expected it to be so high, and higher than most others in my class!
Biology        78    Marcus Tan got 90.. Wth man…
Chemistry    55    Considering I lost 20% on the essay (which was supposed to be a giveaway)…
Physics          69    Thank God I passed this term… It was an easy paper some more….
E Maths         89    Much higher than I expected… Pulled up my average too =)
A Maths        71   Oh well, I didn’t get the A1 I wanted, but at least I did okay…
Geography    36   Hmm… Don’t ask me what happened… The damn paper was stupid, okay?
Lit/SS           53    Same damn mark I got last term… I HATE SS! Grrr… Pull me down all the time =|

Well that’s about it, I’m 22nd in class, you can go calculate my average if you wanna know… And I hope all the numbers go up for EOY exams… *Sigh* This term sucked… Stupid Geography paper, I lost 12 marks just cuz I had no damn frigging time, and then not only could I not pass anymore, the crap that I wrote and thought to be correct was not even on the right track… Instead of the teacher walking out on the class, it should be me dammit…

EOY exams in about four to five weeks, and my calendar is already packed with stuff… Tell me how I’m gonna do well, let alone top the class again (like I sorta did in term one)? Only God can save me now =P

My Weekend (and week)

On Saturday, I went with my sister and dad to the beach, bringing along our two dogs for a walk and a swim in the sea… Well, I just spent five days living right next to the beach, camping in a tent… Anyway, we walked for a bit, then we swam for a while, and I saw SPARK C camp being used for OBS Singapore… Wow, what a coincidence, there was also an advertisment about it too… After that I slept again (after sleeping the whole night) till the afternoon, and I lazed about, not doing much…

On Sunday, we woke up early and went wakeboarding at PUNGGOL!!! Precisely where I went for OBS, just a bit left of Punggol Point Jetty… But at a much nicer country club, in a much nicer boat, with much nicer food and drinks too =P  That’s about all that was good, cuz I sucked at wakeboarding, and couldn’t even stand up on the bloody board, so that was pretty much a waste, but I enjoyed the sea and the boat ride… Treated it like a cruise, cuz we were eating chee cheong fun and chai tao kway on board with sweet drinks to go =)… Whoah, that’s really the life man…

After that, we went to Sentosa, cuz we had a free pass with us, and we lazed about Palawan Beach, but we were supposed to go kayaking in some weird looking boat that couldn’t pass off as a kayak or a canoe… Anyway, stupid Kor was too busy lying around under the umbrella… But everyone was tired already lah, I fell asleep in the car too, then we went for mass =P  I crashed that night….

So on Monday and Tuesday, we got back our results (which I have posted above), but yesterday evening, I was abducted into the Music Ministry for the upcoming Teachers’ Day mass (WHICH IS TOMORROW!!!) to sing a ridiculously high song that is meant for the friggin American Idol to sing, and not some school concert rendition that is BEING SUNG AT A MASS!!?!?!?!

Wah piang… I can cry my heart out, just by singing my lungs out literally lah… Cannot talk properly after that, my voice is all  hoarse and all that shit….. Crap man, I don’t even know if I can pull it off tomorrow or not lah! Wish me luck =P

Anyway, my schedule is seriously packed, from now till the Sept hols and beyond, I have so many appointments, its not funny, and I can’t even get down to serious studying… Damn this life =|  My senior in NCC told me I shouldn’t take so many responsibilities and so many commitments, so I told him if I were to drop something, it would be NCC… Haha, he kena jack lah =)  He told me to quite TNF, but that’s not gonna happen, especially cuz I like the variety of exercise there, not just running all the time lor…

Today (and maybe the near future)

I went to study at MacDonalds with Marcus Tan today, cuz I woke up around 10 or 11, then I went to help him with his A Maths, so we ate lunch then we settled down to work with frequent (but not that frequent okay…) breaks that were very much welcome, in the four and a half hour span that we were there doing maths… Right now, my brain is busted, so its no use if I try to study anything else but Maths, and cuz I’m already quite sick of that, let’s not go there, okay?

Anyway, I didn’t even manage to complete half of the 29 questions assigned to us in the TYS, but did manage an average of 3 guestions an hour, which is about right, cuz I did 12 questions from 1.30 to 5.30 and finished up the 13th question by 5.50, so taking into account the uneven difficulty level of all questions, it should be right that I can do half the questions (15.5) in five hours, IF I actually carried on for that extra forty minutes… See what I mean by my brain being busted by Maths? Grrr… *FLUSH*

So right now, I wanna go to bed, but I should practice the stupid song I have to sing tomorrow, but I can’t get it, cuz Nathalie’s com is too slow, and I’m visiting blospot blogs for once, cuz they are pestering me to tag their blogs (namely Nathalie and Edwin) haha… =P

Anyway, I don’t think my voice is up to it, so I’ll just go to bed… NITEZ =)

Good luck to yall for EOYs,
<GABZ>

PS My arms are peeling, but I’m trying not to let them… Haha =P
PSS I like my tan, and I don’t want it to go away…
PSSS I lost weight, but I think I put it back on already… lolz
PSSSS I think I should go now… NITEZ

Common Tests are like… NEXT WEEK!!! Die lah, haven’t even started mugging lor…

Anyway, so National Day is coming up, last Sat was St.Mike’s carnival, I went there and had some fun hanging around with teachers… Saw some old friends and old teachers… Like Benjamin Byrne (who still remembers me stapling my finger in p1 or p2, and Mrs Payamel had to dig it out with the back of the stapler cuz it was really deep) and Marcus Lye (who now happens to be a model, and you can check out his friendster profile for more details)… Some recent friends like Mark Lim (the one I met in LLTC) and Cheryl’s brother (damn I forgot his name) cuz he was playing in SPS band, even though he wasn’t from SMS, and Wilson played drums for SJI bagpipers so Bro Jason was there too, and I gave him some of my cotton candy… HAHA =P   I saw Ms Chang (got weird specs now) and Ms Karen Tan (she slimmed down way a lot), Mrs Koh (had a lengthy chat with her) and Mrs Payamel (just a quick wave), and Ms Chng barely recognized me (HAHA =P considering she was the one who ran out of school to tell me I got an A for Chinese PSLE)… Oh yeah, I saw Fabian Koh (p6B long hair one, not the short scout in SJI) and Shane Martin, they really haven’t changed much… Still quite nice, still look the same (though they don’t sound it)… I also saw several SJI guys there, sec 1 to sec 3 (sec fours probably all mugging) and Marc Lim (HAHA =P) So many ppl… Whoah

But the carnival itself was quite happening, I enjoyed myself (getting ripped off by the ridiculous prices that all the stores charged)… And there was a real live cow there too! I went to pet it, but got dragged away by Jervis Kang cuz he saw cowdung on the floor… There was also the dunking machine, but only small boys were getting wet, and no teachers (bet you Roth would’ve liked that)… And there was the cowboy rodeo thingy, which some small boys are quite good at, considering they can’t even grip on with their legs, I think it mainly their agility, but there was this Indian boy who couldn’t even get on the bull =P! Poor boy, so malu… There was another who kept on falling off, but always managing to pull himself back up… Damn pro =P

I went for cat, nothing eventful there (except maybe for hearing Andrew singing, cuz I bet you no one else has heard it before =P) and then went home for a nice dinner, then slacked away…

Last Sunday, I cantored the psalm for the Feastday mass, so this week I am exempted… Muahaha =P Stupid choirmaster Jo always trying to get me to sing… Grr (don’t tell him I like it now) HAHA… So this week came some difficult songs, but we managed them quite well, so that was okay… And I went for choir practice, so now I’m singing a hard-to-sing song for next week…

So after that we had the infant baptism, but due to some screw-up, we were too late, so we just headed on to the party and had quite a fulfilling time (literally) just eating… The satay was damn good, and the popiah was not bad too (but we have kueh pai tee, so that’s even better)… Oh yeah, there were strawberries and sugar and cream too… That was especially good =P yummyyummy, we should have that more often =P

Then we went back to our house for a dinner party my sister was having cuz this guy friend of hers was leaving for abroad (dunno where) so she baked him a cake and decorated it herself with home made icing… It was quite nice, and I’m sure he enjoyed the company before he left… As for me, I was stuck doing homework… How sad, but they weren’t playing any games, so I didn’t really miss out on anything… No swimming either, just talking and laughing and all that =P

So anyway, it’s getting late and I should probably go to bed for tomorrow’s National Day mass and AP… So good night, and study hard for Common Tests! Oh die, OBS coming up soon… And so are all the FYE *sigh* where did the year go?

Boston and Whistler, here I come!
